Taking the Bull by the Horns: Special Exhibition on Cattle in Taiwan

Cattle were an important workforce and valuable asset in early Taiwan society. They were loyal and intimate companions, accompanying the people of Taiwan through generations of life, culture, industry, and transportation changes. However, they also faced transformations in their relationship with humans during societal transitions.

In the Year of the Ox, which was celebrated in 2021 according to the lunar calendar, this special exhibition aims to introduce the "cattle " from both natural and cultural perspectives. By exploring and understanding the biological characteristics of cattle, it also seeks to raise awareness of the intertwined life histories of humans and cattle within the context of the environment and culture. Through this, it encourages contemplation of the new relationship between humans and cattle in the face of changing times and industries.
