From Ephemeral to Eternal – The Journery of Insects Specimens in aMuseum

The Museum currently has over one million registered artifacts and specimens in the fields of anthropology, biology, and geology, with approximately 60% of them being a diverse collection of insect specimens. The collection grows by about 20,000 items each year. In 2013, the Museum received a donation of approximately 11,000 beetle specimens from the family of Mr. Lin Wenxin, a renowned insect collector. After over a year of organizing, preparing, and cataloging, the specimens have been completed. The special exhibition showcases over 700 beetle specimens collected by Mr. Lin Wenxin, including the Yellow Longhorn Beetle, one of Taiwan's three treasures of beetles, and the pond turtle, which serves as an indicator of water quality. During the opening ceremony, the Museum presented a letter of appreciation to Mr. Lin Qingfeng, the brother of Mr. Lin Wenxin, to express gratitude for the family's donation of a large number of specimens collected by Mr. Lin Wenxin during his lifetime, allowing the specimens to have greater educational value.
