NMNS Welcomes 90,000,000th Visitor
NMNS, Sep. 29, 2017 – The National Museum of Natural Science is pleased to announce that we welcomed visitor number 90,000,000 through our door on Friday, September 29, 2017 at approximately 10:30 AM. Ms. Hsiao and her 3-year-old son were greeted with the news as they entered the museum. The lucky mom was presented a bouquet of flowers and put on a red ribbon by museum staff.
“We were completely shocked, but pleasantly surprised,” Ms. Hsiao told the Museum Director Sun Wei-hsin when they stood by for the celebration. “This is so exciting,” said the mom. “We live in Taichung, not very far from the museum, so I take my son to the museum frequently, almost once a week. Anyway, I’m so surprised when all the excitement started after we paid for our admission.” “I can’t wait to share this with all my family and friends,” added she.
“We were so thrilled to welcome our ninety millionth visitor to the Museum,” said Sun. “While every visitor is special to us, Ms. Hsiao and her son are part of a monumental milestone in our history as we make every effort to inspire the general public to become life-long learners in the pursuit of excellence.” “The Museum has been the leading visitor attraction in Taiwan with an average annual attendance of more than three million people since it established in 1986,” noted he, “We want to continue to be Taiwan’s most visited tourist attraction for domestic as well as international audiences with our distinguishing and outstanding display in the museum campus and our 921 Earthquake Park @ Wufong, Chelungpu Fault Preservation Park @ Chushan, and Fonghuanggu Bird & Ecology Park @ Lugu.”
As a result of their good fortune, Ms. Hsiao and her son were presented with a generous prize package that included a certificate, a ten-year membership to the museum for free as well as a bag filled with NMNS souvenirs. Also, the lucky mom and son were invited as honored guests at the activity for the new museum mascot, which is coming soon at the end of this month.
Also on view is the Brilliant Mid-Autumn exhibition that showcases the beauty of oncidium orchid in the art of Chinese flower arrangement at the Museum's Conservatory and the two museum entrances on Shi-tun Rd. and Bo-kuan Rd. The oncidium orchid exhibition is a very limited-time display, running from Friday, September 29 to Tuesday, October 10. You won't want to miss it!
