    picture of an oviraptor

Oviraptor is a small, fast running dinosaur. It is a Coelurosaurian, the same as the T-rex. The distinctive feature of the Oviraptor is the outgrowth of a crest-like structure on the short, deep head. It is toothless. The jaws are modified into a beak, which can produce the powerful bite of modern parrots. Its forelimbs show the typical claws of the beast-foot dinosaur. Analysis of stomach contents revealed small vertebrates, indicating the Orviraptor was a predator. It was distributed mainly in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia and lived in the Late Cretaceous period.
