    picture of an Euophocephalus

The Euophocephalus is a member of the ankylosarus or the armored dinosaurs. Its body is heavily built and might reach a weight of 2 tons. Its prominent feature is the thick leathery skin on the back with many bony protrusions of various shapes and arranged in different bands. It has pointed spines at the back on the neck and shoulder. The tip of the tail developed into a club-shaped bony structure. It could swing its tail to deter challengers in case of danger. Another key feature is the covering of bony plates on top of the skull. These provided protection for the head. Bony materials cover even its eyelids. The Euophocephalus lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous period.
