Library introduction
The Library of the National Museum of Natural Science is a
general reference library primarily for museum staff, but also available to the
public by appointment. It is located in the 4th and basement 1st floor of the
Information Building.
It is an open-access library. All of the books are available on
the open shelves. Books may be borrowed from the library except the reference
books and current issues, but are available for reference during opening hours.
There is a core collection of around 60,000 books, 1,000
journals, and 15,000 CDs on a wide range of subjects, such as
zoology(invertebrates, entomology, reptiles and amphibians, and birds and
mammals), botany(vascular plants, nonvascular plants, and fungi and lichens),
geology(paleontology, rocks, and minerals), archaeology(ethnology and
archaeology), and museum studies, etc. The library online catalogue can be
consulted at terminals in the reading room and the readers can also see the
digital museum databases, e-journals, and related online databases.
Photocopying facilities are available.
