Diospyros philippensis is a large evergreen tree Leaves are coriaceous, lanceolate, shinning dark green above, pale beneath. Several flowers are in short axillary racemes about 2.5cm long. Fruit is depressed globose, reddish brown. It is edible. The plant is distributed in the eastern and southern parts of Taiwan.
