Acacia confusa is an evergreen tree whose trunk grows to 1 m across. Phyllodia are alternate and lanceolate, attenuate at both ends. Flowers are numerous, in golden-yellow globose heads. Pods are 5-10 cm long, containing 7-8 seeds.
