Barringtonia asiatica is a medium-sized evergreen tree. Leaves are crowded at the ends of branches, coriaceous, obovate to oblong, and shiny above. Flowers are cream-colored. Fruit is depressed-turbinate, with 4 angles about 10 cm long. The pericarp is fibrous. It is seen along seashores of southern and southeastern of Taiwan and on Is. Lanyu. Fruit is dispered by ocean currents.
