Michelia formosana is an evergreen tree. Leaves are coriaceous, green to yellow green. Flowers are white to pale yellow. Seeds are dark brown to black. It is a rather valuable timber tree in Taiwan. The wood is used for building, furniture-making and other purposes. The species is endemic to Taiwan.
