地球上有數萬種藻類，以各種形態展現自己的存在。藻類喜歡生長在有水的地方，不過岩石、牆壁、土壤甚至空氣中，也都會有藻類的分佈。團藻屬於淡水綠藻中的一種，用顯微鏡觀察這群團藻，因為行無性繁殖，在內部形成像眼睛般的子團藻，組合成一張有逗趣表情的鬼臉。實際上這群團藻由許多小體細胞團聚而成，細胞內有紅色眼點，才是真正發揮感光功能的小「眼睛」。

Tens of thousands of algae species exist on this earth. Algae prefer places where there is water. However, they also grow on rocks, walls, soil, and even in the air. The genus Volvox includes freshwater green algae. This Volvox colony was observed under a microscope. As asexual reproduction takes place, eye-like gonidia form inside, creating a funny face. In fact, this colony is comprised of many small cells. Among them, somatic cells have red eyespots with light-sensing function.
