獅子魚有引人注目的條紋、華麗的顏色和誇張的鰭，被譽為「會游泳的蝴蝶」。獅子魚放射狀的背鰭和胸鰭具有毒性，若不幸被鰭條刺中，輕則腫痛，重則休克死亡。牠食量超大，且少有天敵，每日進食量，可達自身體重的90%，許多海洋魚類都是牠的獵物。
The lionfish’s eye-catching patterns, magnificent colors, and showy fins have earned it the nickname “swimming butterfly”. If stung by its venomous dorsal and pectoral fin rays, the result may be painful swelling or even death. This fish has a gluttonous appetite and few natural enemies. It can consume an amount of food equal to 90% of its body weight every day.
