It was an extraordinary but cold night. There was a strong tropical depression from Hengchun and the Taiwan Strait with the sounds of thunder in the distance. Lightning flashed momentarily obscuring the stars. Bracing against the cold winds, I climbed the highest summit and looked southwest. A sea of clouds had formed from a large thunder cell and thick clouds. The light pollution from below created a beautiful glass light effect, accompanied by the Milky Way setting in the west. That was an unforgettable midsummer night.
