Introduction
From dusk on December 14 to dawn on December 15, 2018, the Geminids, one of three major annual meteor showers in the Northern Hemisphere, could be viewed. This was also when the 46P/Wirtanen comet reached perigee. I took my family to Xueshanliang in Songpan County, which is at over 4,000 meters in elevation, to watch meteors shoot across the sky. Orion, the brightest and most magnificent constellation in the Northern Hemisphere in winter, was overhead, responding to the green light emitted by 46P/Wirtanen near Taurus. The moon was about to set, with the last beam of moonlight shining on Mount Xuebaoding at 5588 meters in elevation. With a camera modified for astrophotography, a pink emission nebula, invisible to the naked eye, was also captured.
