Whispers of Crimson Elves – Anthurium
Anthuriums, with their characteristic spadix and spathe, are members of the Araceae family. Through commercial breeding, Anthurium varieties of different colors have been developed. These colorful blooms resemble forest elves that stand out amidst lush greenery, adding magic and charm to the rainforests.
This exhibition marks the first collaboration between the National Museum of Natural Science’s Botanical Garden and National Chin-Yi University of Technology’s Department of Landscape Architecture. Students and faculty from that department co-curated the exhibition with our botanical garden team, recreating the layered structure of a rainforest. Anthuriums, with their bright red, pink, and white spathes surrounded by vivid green leaves, evoke the imagination of murmurs and fleeting dances of tropical forest spirits. The aim of this exhibition is to create a sense of fluidity and whispered communication—like voices drifting gently through the foliage, sharing a tale deeply rooted in nature.
