The 28th Taiwan Bonsai Style Exhibition 2026
Bonsai is a miniature representation of nature and a time-honored living art that demands exceptional horticultural skill and artistic sensitivity. Its essence lies far beyond simply cultivating trees in containers; rather, it is a sophisticated practice that integrates botany, ecology, horticulture, and aesthetics. By highlighting the distinctive characteristics, ecological value, and cultural significance of individual tree species, bonsai also offers a unique means of preserving and promoting tree diversity.
An outstanding bonsai may take decades to cultivate. From selecting suitable plant material and raising young trees, to developing the trunk and branches, shaping the overall structure, and meticulously refining layers of foliage, every stage requires extensive expertise, patience, and dedication.
Co-organized by the National Museum of Natural Science and the Taiwan Bonsai Creators Association (TBCA), this exhibition brings together years of creative achievement by distinguished bonsai artists from across Taiwan. Through the thoughtful arrangement of six essential elements—containers or display slabs, trunks, branches, foliage, flowers, and fruits—the artists condense the grandeur of natural tree landscapes into a limited space, revealing the unique vitality, character, and visual beauty of diverse tree species.
