Selaginellaceae
The focus of this online exhibition is 12 herbarium specimens of plants of the family Selaginellaceae from Taiwan. There are more than 800 species in this family worldwide, mainly distributed in tropical areas. Among them, some grow in hot dry areas, such as in deserts or on rocky cliffs. Some grow in humid and dark environments, such as on the forest floor or at cave entrances. Those in Taiwan have adapted to these two types of extreme environments, presenting rich species diversity.
