Ficus formosana
The Taiwan fig or Ficus formosana is a native shrub-type banyan tree. This species has been included in ancient books and records on Traditional Chinese Medicine. It originally reached a height of three meters. However, due to constant harvesting for its nourishing tonic properties, it is now a much smaller tree. Synconium can be divided into two types: male and female. The male fig produces male flowers and gall flowers. The female fig produces only female flowers. It is necessary to know the difference to be able to collect its seeds.
