Cinnamomum kanehirai is endemic to Taiwan. This tree is strong, solid and rough. Thus, in Chinese it is referred to as "bull camphor". Its wood is considered of high value as it can be used in construction and for carving. It is also possible to extract camphor oil. Thus, the entire tree can be used. The term "bull camphor" has come to be associated with high value. For example, Antrodia cinnamomea, also known by its Chinese name "bull camphor" mushroom has been shown to have good medicinal value. As the value of this tree rises, seed collection becomes increasingly important.
