Iron meteorites
Iron meteorites are mainly composed of iron and nickel, with the nickel content generally between 5 and 20 wt%. Scientists believe that such meteorites originated in the core of the parent planet and contain the symbiosis of two minerals, taenite and kamacite. When 2% Nital is used to polish the corroded surface, intertwining striae of these two minerals appear, which are referred to as the Widmanstätten Pattern.
