Takydromus tachydromoides

  • Scientific Name:Takydromus tachydromoides
  • English Name:Japanese grass lizard

The Japanese grass lizard is distributed in Japan. It was published by zoologist Hermann Schlegel in 1838. It has a brown body and yellowish-white abdomen. The white lines on the sides of its body often appear discontinuous and dotted. It has three pairs of chin shields and two pairs of femoral pores. In the exhibited specimen, the chin shields appear asymmetrical, with four on the right but five on the left. Chin shield or femoral pore asymmetry, as well as asymmetry of other types of body scales, occurs occasionally among grass lizards.
