Stone tools without blade of the Fantzuyuan Culture

Description: Short, columnar stone hammer

Dimensions: Length 132.6 mm, width 45.6mm, thickness 32.0 mm, weight 400.1 g.

Material: Mainly quartz sandstone

Such tools were mostly short and shaped like a columnar bar or a slightly columnar bar and made from gravel-like stone. The size is suited to holding in the hand. There is often evidence of damage at the ends along the long axis from striking and hammering, such that both ends are dull and round. Along the sides, or short axis, there are also sometimes densely concentrated strike marks. It is speculated that hammering was not only done using the round protruding ends, but also the flatter sides. The stone hammers from the Shekouwei site were excavated from cultural layer I (Fantzuyuan Culture cultural layer).
