In Fantzyuan Culture sites, shell mounds are common. The main species are sea snails and freshwater snails. Clams of mainly family Veneridae were found at this site, of species Gomphina aequilatera (Sowerby) and Meretrix sp. This was followed by the oyster family Ostreidae. There was also evidence of oyster snails (Thais clavigera (Kuster)), pond snails (Sinotaia quadrata(Benson)) and freshwater snails (Thiara torulosa (Bruguiere)), etc.
