Bowls are vessels without a neck. This bowl possesses introverted mouth and thick, protruding lip. The lip has been rubbed almost flat. The body is nearly round. It was formerly referred to as a round bowl. On the surface are impressed basket weave patterns. The patterns are distinct and coarse. The entire vessel is thick, heavy and simple.
This pottery vessel was excavated from the 19th layer of the TP5 test pit, at about 200cm from the surface. This was the lowest cultural layer (below this was raw soil layer without artifacts). It was accompanied by a high-collar, open mouth, restricted neck jar. It belongs to cultural layer II. This type of impressed patterned pottery excavated from the Shekouwei site was common from the late Neolithic Period to the early Iron Age, based on shapes, patterns and materials.
