Aquamarine
In Latin, aquamarine means "seawater". It is of transparent, blue green columnar crystal structure. The depth of the blue depends on a small amount of ferric ions. Transparent aquamarine is the color of the sea. However, different from emeralds is that there are often small defects in the large crystal structure. There are two specimens on display, both from Pakistan. One is rough aquamarine associated with crystal, plagioclase and tourmaline. The entire specimen weighs 9.1 kilograms. The other is a faceted stone of approximately 30 carats.
