Super thin sea star Anseropoda rosaceae
Anseropoda rosaceae is a unique sea star. It has a diameter of up to 25 cm and is as thin as a wafer. It lives in deeper sandy areas, at water depths of 40-100 meters and feeds on organic debris and small worms. These sea stars are light reddish brown when alive and quite beautiful. They are rare and there are only a few specimens in the collection of this museum. In Taiwan, Anseropoda rosaceae is currently only found in the waters around Penghu and Xiaoliuqiu.
