Begonia seeds are tiny. Once mature, they gradually lose their vitality under normal conditions and ultimately cannot germinate. Therefore, cryopreservation techniques are used. Seeds are placed in liquid nitrogen at -196°C to stop the physiological metabolism of cells, so that the seeds can be permanently preserved.
