Artificial hybridization was carried out with Begonia ningmingensis, which is native to Guangxi, China, as the female parent and Begonia fenicis as the male parent. Although the leaves of Begonia ningmingensis possess beautiful patterns, this plant is not drought or heat resistant. The leaves of Begonia fenicis do not have any patterns, but this plant has strong physiological traits and is highly adaptable. The F1 offspring has the advantages of both parents and is a potentially valuable indoor ornamental plant.
