This hybrid combination is of Begonia ningmingensis as the female parent and the F1 hybrid of the iron cross begonia (B. masoniana) as the female parent and B. kui as the male parent. Following 2 generations of genetic recombination and artificial selection, there are very interesting patterns on the leaves. If drought-tolerance can be improved through breeding, it has the potential to be developed into an indoor ornamental plant.
