Begonia montaniformis × Begonia ningmingensis var. bella
Begonia montaniformis belongs to the section Coelocentrum. In nature, it is found in northern Vietnam, growing on limestone walls. The leaves have a distinctive texture with peak-like protrusions. In 2015, Professor Ching-I Peng reported a new species of begonia. With Begonia montaniformis as the female parent, artificial hybridization was carried out with Begonia ningmingensis var. bella, which is native to areas of Guangxi Province in China that are close to the border with Vietnam, has very bright lines on its leaves, and belongs to the same section. The selected F1 offspring is of extremely high ornamental value.
