Trichaleurina tenuispora

  • Scientific Name:Trichaleurina tenuispora

Trichaleurina tenuispora is distributed in low to mid-elevation areas around Taiwan. It is a common, large, fleshy cup fungus that is similar in appearance to T. javanica. The difference is that T. javanica has wider ascospores and is only found on Orchid Island and Hainan Island, as well as in the Philippines. T. tenuispora mainly grows on extremely decayed wood, often in groups. The ascocarps can reach more than 5 cm in diameter with short dark brown hairs on the surface. The hymenium is yellowish-brown. The ascocarp is filled with a translucent, jelly-like substance, which makes it elastic to the touch.
