Brazilian salmon pink bird-eating tarantula (adult female)
The Brazilian salmon pink bird-eating tarantula (Lasiodora parahybana) is a relatively primitive spider that belongs to the family Tarantula and infraorder Mygalomorphae. It is native to South America. The Brazilian salmon pink bird-eating tarantula is huge, with a span of up to 25 cm when walking. In the wild, it inhabits the forest floor and nests in caves and rock crevices. It does not build a web. Instead, it is an ambush predator, lying in wait until it detects the vibrations of passing prey. These spiders can be found in pet markets in Taiwan. They are among the more popular arachnid pets. They must be properly fed, otherwise there is a possibility of being bitten.
