Pharmacological properties: Tastes pungent and bitter; warm in nature; spleen, stomach, and liver meridians.
Functions and indications: Regulates qi, relieves pain, dispels wind, removes meridian obstructions, activates blood circulation, and reduces swelling. Mainly used to treat stomachache, abdominal pain, rheumatism pain, menstrual pain, irregular menstruation, postpartum abdominal pain, sore throat, hemorrhoids, sores, boils, and bruises.
