Skin and musculoskeletal system: The hairs on the rhizome are used to temporarily stop bleeding from a wound. The hairs on the head (rhizome) are used to stop bleeding.
Kudzu (Pueraria montana) can be chewed and then applied externally. Or, the hairs of the golden chicken fern (local indigenous people also use Taiwanese Cibotium (Cibotium taiwanianum)) can be applied externally to stop bleeding from knife cuts or stab wounds.

Pharmacological properties: Tastes bitter and sweet; warm in nature.
Functions and indications: Strengthens the lower back and knees, dispels rheumatism, and strengthens the joints. Mainly used to treat lower back pain due to kidney deficiency, weakness in the feet and knees, pain of rheumatism, excessive urination, spermatorrhea, and excessive leucorrhea.
