Herbs for treating colds include: spider fern (Pteris multifida), sword break fern (Pteris ensiformis), lanceleaf Blumea (Blumea lanceolaria), rough cocklebur (Xanthium strumarium), ox knee, balsam Blumea (Blumea balsamifera), and ailanthus prickly ash (Zanthoxylum ailanthoides) roots, which can be decocted together. If cough is present, add yellow bristle-hair ixeris (Ixeris chinensis), Chinese mulberry (7 Morus australis) roots, and Chinese fever vine (Paederia foetida).

To treat a severe cold, make a decoction of glorybower (3127 Clerodendrum cyrtophyllum), balsam Blumea, lanceleaf Blumea, ox knee, mountain peppercorn roots, and ailanthus prickly ash roots.

Skin and musculoskeletal system: To relieve sore feet, make an omelette with ox knee leaves.

Maternal and pediatric health care: Pospartum nasal congestion and colds can be treated with ox knee. Fry to dry first, then make a decoction from it.
