Kikuchi's gecko
Diet: The diet of this species is approximately the same as that of other gecko species and includes insects of the orders Orthoptera and Hymenoptera.
Characteristics: Body coloration depends on the environment. If in a lightly colored environment, it appears white or light yellow. If in a darker colored environment, it appears black or brown. This is an example of protective coloring.
Habitat: This species is only found on Lanyu (Orchid Island) in small holes in drainage ditches or in the fissures of coral rock.
Movement: These geckos have a single row of skin flaps, as well as micro hairs that provide adhesion to allow them to move quickly along almost any surface, seemingly defying gravity.
Each time two connected eggs are laid. This species congregates at the same egg laying site.
