Cuming's mabuya
Diet: This is a newly recorded species. Originally, the only record was on Luzon, the Philippines. Thus, this species' diet and foraging habits are not well understood. It is possible that it feeds on insects or invertebrates in areas where sisal hemp is grown or under coastal plants.
Characteristics: The head and back are smooth and ash grey in color. Along the midline of the back is a black band. Along the sides are white partitioning vertical bands. These bands reach from the snout and eyes to the base of the hind limbs.
Habitat: The body length of Cuming's mabuyua is 5.5 centimeters which is less than that of the long-tailed sun skink (12.5 centimeters) and Mabuya multicarinata (8.5 centimeters). Thus, it does not have great competitive ability. These reptiles only inhabit the beaches and coral reef areas where their ancestors arrived after floating across the ocean from Luzon, the Philippines. To today, there have been no records of this species crossing the road that circles the island to the inland parts of Lanyu. This is an example of interspecies competition and the difficulties of immigrant species on the island.
Movement: Although this species is small in comparison to the other two species of skinks, it possesses the same level of sensitivity of the other skinks. It can move very quickly and is difficult to capture. Sightings are most common in the morning and evening.
Reproduction: Unclear, however there have been records of two eggs per clutch.
