Spoon-leaved sundew
Characteristics: Red, perennial, stemless herbaceous plant. Leaves basal, fasciculate or radial, open and flat, spathulate, 0.9-2.1 cm in length, 0.25-0.35 cm in length, glandular hairs along the upper surface. Flowers are rosy red, diameter approximately 0.4 cm, 5 sepals, covered in glandular hairs; 5 petals; 3 styles. Capsular fruit approximately 0.15 cm in length.
Distribution: Japan, the Ryuku Islands, tropical Asia and Australia. In Taiwan, it is only found in low elevation wetlands or on cliffs in northern areas.
Properties: Insectivorous. As it is found in places where the soil is infertile, it can make use of heterotrophic nutrition.
