Ophiocordyceps sinensis
This species of fungus mainly grows on the Tibetan Plateau and parasitizes the larvae of ghost moths. It is a valuable herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine, used to nourish the kidneys and lungs. Due to over-harvesting, it is now difficult to find in the wild, and even more difficult to cultivate. Thus, it has become extremely expensive.
