Polyporus umbellatus

This species is generally found in temperate climates. The sclerotium, which grows below ground, is the part that is used as medicine. It has diuretic, diaphoretic and hemostatic properties. Its use has also been recorded in the treatment of liver cirrhosis, jaundice, and edema. Bioactive compounds in Polyporus umbellatus have been shown to be effective in treating cancer and viral hepatitis.
