Taxillus lonicerifolius (Hayata) Chiu and Taxillus lonicerifolius (Hayata) Chiu var. longifolius Chiu
Taxillus lonicerifolius (Hayata) Chiu is found on trees in low to high-altitude mountainous areas in Taiwan. The leaves are leathery, ovate to ovate-lanceolate. The surface is covered in soft hairs. The underside is densely covered in rust-colored hairs and brown powdery scales. The perianth is cylindrical and red, spherical at the tip. When in bloom, the petals of the corolla are spoon-shaped.
Taxillus lonicerifolius (Hayata) Chiu var. longifolius Chiu is endemic to Taiwan. Its leaves are larger and so are its flowers. Its leaves are leathery and elliptic-oblong. The flower and leaf morphologies of this variant are similar to those of Taxillus lonicerifolius (Hayata) Chiu. But, it is very large. The tops of the buds are conspicuously spherical.
