Viscum articulatum Burm. f.

Mistletoes are parastitic plants in which the true leaves cannot be seen once the seeds germinate. Leaves are opposite and have degenerated into scales. It is the stems that have become specialized flat structures for photosynthesis.

Viscum articulatum Burm. f. is a small evergreen shrub that is 30-60 cm in height. Stems are flat and compressed with 2-3 longitudinal ridges. It often has bifurcated branches. Flowers are unisexual and monecious. The berries are oval to obovate and the mesocarp is fleshy and sticky.
