口孵型魚類天竺鯛是珊瑚礁區裡常見的魚種之一。天竺鯛大都由雄魚負責口孵工作，一般孵化期大約為7天左右。可以看出這隻魚口已經撐得很大，表示已到孵化時機，準備為海洋增添新生命。

Cardinalfishes are mouthbrooders and common coral reef species. It is mostly the male cardinalfishes that brood the young in their mouths. The incubation period is about 7 days. The mouth of this fish is extremely large, indicating that the eggs are ready to hatch.
