為什麼要跟QQ胖胖的萌萌蟲保持距離呢？毛毛蟲身上的刺與毛不僅提供物理性屏障，也具有化學性防禦功能。當人體接觸時，可能引發皮膚不適。內含毒素的剛毛掉落在皮膚上時，會造成細小傷口，再加上釋放的毒素，使皮膚產生搔癢等過敏反應。尖銳且粗壯的毒刺內部充滿毒液，當人體接觸時，毒刺能穿透皮膚並注射毒液，進而產生明顯的刺痛感。因此，即使外表可愛，也要與萌萌蟲保持適當的安全距離。

Why should we keep our distance from such soft, plump, and adorable caterpillars? The spines and hairs on the body of a caterpillar provide physical and chemical defense. When the human body comes into contact with them, it can trigger skin discomfort. Venomous setae can break off and embed in the skin, leaving tiny wounds; combined with the toxins they release, this can cause itching and other allergic reactions. The sharp, thick venomous spines are filled with toxins; when they come into contact with human skin, they can penetrate it and inject venom, causing severe pain. Therefore, even though they may look cute, it is important to keep a safe distance from these caterpillars.
