纖細卻又堅毅，大概是我第一次看見濱海樹蟋蟀的印象，牠是我們南方四島國家公園計畫的新紀錄種蟋蟀之一。不同於居住在都市、森林的樹蟋蟀種類，可以安逸地躲藏在茂密的葉片間鳴叫，濱海樹蟋蟀就如同其名，多分布於沿海地區，必須面對更加嚴峻的環境。低矮的植株外加強勁不講理的海風，塑造了牠們獨特的生存挑戰。為了適應這種環境，雄蟲如同斯里蘭卡的漁民立釣一般，冒險登上並努力攀著最顯眼的禾本莖桿，在夜色下，時而向左，時而向右，一邊鳴叫一邊閃避強勁的海風，竭盡全力期望今夜能等到有美嬌娘的回應上鉤。

Delicate yet resilient—that best describes my first impression of Oecanthus oceanicus. This cricket species was newly recorded during the South Penghu Marine National Park project. Unlike tree cricket species in cities and forests, which can easily hide among dense foliage as they chirp, O. oceanicus, as its scientific name suggests, is primarily distributed in coastal areas and faces harsher environments. The low-lying vegetation and strong, unpredictable ocean winds have created unique survival challenges for this species. To adapt, males, like fishermen in Sri Lanka who perch on stilts to wait for their catch, risk the climb up the most conspicuous grass culms and cling to them. Under the cover of night, males chirp as they move left and right, dodging the strong winds and desperately hoping to attract a female.
