極光是發生在地球兩極附近的自然現象,太陽帶電粒子進入地球磁場並與大氣中的氣體分子碰撞時,便會釋放出能量,形成壯麗的極光景象。其形態受地球磁場影響,呈現出多樣的光帶、波浪或漩渦形狀;而不同的氣體會發出不同的顏色,氧氣產生綠色或紅色的光,而氮氣則會發出藍紫色的光。2023至2025年間,因太陽黑子運動正處於最強烈的週期,能在爆發期拍攝到極光的舞動,親眼見證了宇宙和地球物理之間的奇妙互動。
An aurora is a natural phenomenon that occurs near Earth's poles. When charged particles from the solar wind enter Earth's magnetic field and collide with atmospheric gas molecules, energy is released, creating magnificent auroral displays. The Earth's magnetic field influences their shape, causing them to appear as bands, waves, or vortices. Additionally, their colors vary depending on the atmospheric gases involved; oxygen produces green or red light, while nitrogen emits blue to purple light. During 2023 to 2025, a period of peak solar activity characterized by intense sunspot activity, which provided an opportunity to capture the dancing aurora and witness the remarkable interaction between solar phenomena and Earth's atmospheric physics.
