跳過蝌蚪期，直接發育而成的青蛙有一個特殊的構造讓牠能破卵而出，那就是「卵齒」（照片中口部上緣小小黑色三角形即是卵齒）。近期入侵臺臺灣的溫室蟾，就是屬於這種類型。卵齒這個微小且鋒利的結構位於牠的吻端，主要在於幫助牠們割破卵膜，破卵而出、卓然而立。

Frogs that complete their entire tadpole stage inside the egg possess a unique structure, an egg tooth, helping them to break free from the egg case at hatching. (In these images, the small black triangular structure along the upper edge of the snout is the egg tooth.) The greenhouse frog, which recently invaded Taiwan, exemplifies this process. They will use this tiny, sharp structure at the tip of their snout to pierce through the egg membrane to escape from the egg case.
