Introduction

From observations of transparent specimens, the bones revealed by red stain are mainly distributed in areas that require support, enabling the organism to maintain its shape, such as the spine and fins. Cartilage is distributed in areas that require movement, such as between joints. The subject of this image, the rosy dory (Cyttopsis rosea), has more well-developed cartilaginous tissue in its mouth due to its feeding method and retractable upper jaw, resulting in a striking contrast following staining. Staining provides a glimpse of the internal structure of fish, as well as the morphology and distribution of cartilage and bones. Cartilage and bones are essential for movement, which inspired the title of this work.
