護幼行為不只僅限於哺乳動物及鳥類，也存在其他動物類群中。即使是常帶給人恐怖印象的蜈蚣，其雌性也會在繁殖期展現護幼行為。圖中的蜈蚣成體蜷曲在石頭下的隱蔽處，將卵抱在懷中並給予適當的照顧。仔細觀察也可發現，圓形的卵中間已經開始凹陷，呈現小蜈蚣捲成一圈的樣貌。

It is not only mammals and birds that care for their young. Other animals do as well. Although centipedes have a less than pleasant image, a female centipede was found protecting its young during the reproductive season. In this image, a mother centipede was curled up in a sheltered area under a rock, holding her eggs and giving them proper care. On careful observation, the round eggs were beginning to sag in the middle, revealing the spirals of baby centipedes inside.
