花斑連鰭䲗屬䲗科魚類，在臺灣非常稀有，喜躲藏於鹿角珊瑚類縫隙環境中生活。交配行為在黃昏時上演，此時公魚會穿梭在珊瑚間，一看見雌魚，便主動靠近，觀察雌魚有無交配的意願，然後互相貼緊，慢慢往上飄起，同時釋放精子和卵子，在不到幾秒鐘的時間內完成交配。

The mandarinfish, in the family Callionymidae, is rarely found in the waters off Taiwan. This fish prefers to hide in the crevices of staghorn coral. At dusks of mating season, males move among the coral. They approach females when they see one. If there is willingness to mate, they stick close to one another, slowly float upwards, and release sperms and eggs. The mating process is complete in a matter of seconds.
